The Psychology of Desire

△ Sex Therapy

Sexuality is never just about sex. It’s about permission, power, presence, and the ways we reveal ourselves to another. It is intertwined with identity, attachment, vulnerability, and our deepest experiences of connection.

Perhaps desire has changed, intimacy feels difficult to access, or you and your partner experience different sexual needs. You may be navigating sexual anxiety, shame, challenges with arousal or orgasm, or uncertainty about your erotic identity. Sometimes, the desire for greater sexual fulfillment brings us face-to-face with psychological patterns we have yet to understand.

I work with individuals and couples seeking a deeper understanding of their sexual and intimate lives. My approach welcomes both the practical concerns that bring people to sex therapy and the unconscious emotional dynamics that may shape those experiences.

Together, we explore sexuality not as an isolated function, but as an expression of the whole person, influenced by our histories, relationships, bodies, desires, and evolving sense of self.

△ Beneath the Erotic Surface

Rooted in psychodynamic and Jungian depth psychology, my work explores the intersection of sexuality, attachment, identity, and unconscious experience.

I specialize in the relationship between BDSM and depth psychology, an approach I call BDSM Psychology. This work examines the psychological and relational dimensions of power, dominance, submission, surrender, protection, and desire, bringing greater awareness to the dynamics unfolding within intimate relationships.

Sometimes, what appears as emotional chaos is connected to an unspoken power exchange. Sometimes, a dynamic isn’t working not because it’s too much, but because it hasn’t been named, understood, or consciously negotiated.

For some clients, this exploration involves understanding attraction to particular erotic roles, fantasies, or relational dynamics. For others, it means recognizing how caretaking, emotional intensity, control, vulnerability, or the desire for surrender intersect with attachment histories and unconscious expectations.

I also work with individuals exploring their capacity for erotic leadership, structure, and containment, particularly those who identify with protective or caretaker roles and wish to develop greater confidence, emotional steadiness, and conscious authority within their intimate relationships.

The intention is not to prescribe how sexuality should be expressed, but to explore how desire, power, and vulnerability can be experienced with greater consciousness, mutuality, and consent.

△ Erotic Intelligence & Integration

Our sexual lives often contain dimensions of ourselves that have remained unspoken, misunderstood, or shaped by expectations that no longer serve us.

Shame, repression, performance anxiety, and inherited beliefs about sexuality may interfere with our capacity to experience pleasure, intimacy, and authentic self-expression.

My approach integrates psychodynamic exploration, attachment theory, relational attunement, and somatic awareness, creating space to understand both the psychological and embodied dimensions of sexuality.

Depending on your needs, our work may explore:

  • Sexual desire, arousal, and differences in libido

  • Intimacy, vulnerability, and sexual communication

  • Erotic identity, fantasy, and personal archetypes

  • Sexual shame, repression, and performance anxiety

  • Consent, boundaries, and unconscious power dynamics

  • Dominance, submission, surrender, and erotic leadership

  • Integrating kink and BDSM into intimate relationships

  • Rebuilding sexual trust and connection

  • The relationship between attachment, emotional safety, and desire

  • Navigating changes in sexuality across relationships and life transitions

This work is not about identifying a correct way to experience sexuality.

It is about understanding your own erotic language, recognizing the psychological meanings that may live within desire, and developing a more conscious relationship with your sexual self.

△ Beyond Performance

Sexual fulfillment cannot always be understood through function, frequency, or performance.

For some, the work involves reconnecting with pleasure after years of disconnection. For others, it means exploring desires that have remained hidden beneath shame, uncertainty, or the expectations of partners and society.

Sometimes, it involves rediscovering erotic connection within an established relationship. At other times, it means recognizing that sexuality itself is evolving alongside identity, emotional needs, and personal growth.

My work makes room for these experiences without assuming that desire must take a particular form.

Whether your relationships are monogamous, polyamorous, queer, kink-oriented, or still taking shape, your erotic life deserves to be approached with curiosity, psychological depth, and respect.

This is not about performance. This is about attunement. Erotic clarity.

About knowing your desires as maps rather than problems, and reclaiming the parts of yourself that long to give, receive, explore, or simply be understood.
